Baileigh R-M5 Manual Ring Roller

The Baileigh R-M5 is a portable, manually operated 3-roll ring roller designed for small fabrication shops, hobbyists, and metalworkers who need to create precise curves, rings, and circles from tube, pipe, and flat bar stock. Built with heavy duty construction and equipped with versatile tooling, this compact bender delivers professional results without requiring electricity or complicated setup.

When you need to bend metal into smooth curves or complete circles, the R-M5 gives you the control and precision you've been looking for. This isn't just another benchtop bender. Baileigh Industrial engineered this machine using heavy plate steel construction that's built to last a lifetime, not just a few projects.

What sets the R-M5 apart is its intelligent design. The unique 3-driven roll system lets you bend on either side of the bottom roll, giving you significantly more radius options than traditional single-sided benders. This flexibility means you can tackle a wider variety of projects without investing in multiple machines or expensive custom tooling.

Perfect for small fabrication shops, custom metalworkers, automotive enthusiasts, and serious DIYers, the R-M5 handles the jobs that are too small for industrial equipment but too demanding for basic tools. Whether you're creating decorative ironwork, fabricating exhaust systems, building roll cages, or producing custom metal furniture, this ring roller gives you the capability to work with confidence. The manual operation means no electrical requirements, making it ideal for workshops where power access is limited or where you want the hands-on control that only manual operation can provide.

Applications

  • Custom Exhaust Systems: Bend tubing into smooth, precise curves for motorcycle and automotive exhaust fabrication without crimping or deforming the material
  • Decorative Metalwork: Create perfect circles and rings for chandeliers, plant holders, candle holders, ornamental gates, and architectural features
  • Roll Cage Construction: Form tubing for off-road vehicles, race cars, and safety structures with consistent radius bends
  • Stair Railings and Handrails: Produce elegant curved railings for residential and commercial projects with professional-quality results
  • Greenhouse and Garden Structures: Bend tubing for greenhouse frames, arbors, trellises, and other outdoor structures
  • Custom Furniture and Fixtures: Design unique metal furniture pieces, display racks, and retail fixtures with curved elements

Key Features & Benefits

  • 3-Driven Roll System: All three rolls are driven, giving you better material control and the ability to bend on either side of the bottom roll for maximum radius flexibility. This means more bending options without changing your setup
  • Heavy-Duty Plate Steel Construction: Built from sturdy plate steel components, not thin stamped metal. This robust construction ensures accuracy over thousands of bends and eliminates the flex and wobble you'll find in cheaper machines
  • Manual Operation, Zero Electrical Requirements: Hand-crank powered operation means you can set it up anywhere in your workshop without worrying about power outlets. You also get the tactile feedback and precise control that only manual operation provides
  • Compact and Portable Design: With shipping dimensions of just 30" x 40" x 18" and weighing 85 lbs, you can easily position it where you need it. The included floor stand keeps it stable during operation but doesn't take up excessive shop space
  • Versatile Tooling Included: Comes standard with tooling for flat bar bending and round tube dies for 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" tubing. Start working immediately without additional tooling purchases for most common applications
  • Wide Material Capacity: Handle round tubes up to 16mm diameter, solid round stock up to 0.5", flat bar 25mm x 7mm the easy way, and 20mm x 6mm the hard way. This versatility lets you tackle diverse projects with a single machine
  • Create Complete Circles: Unlike some benders that struggle with small radii, the R-M5 excels at producing complete circles as small as 150mm minimum diameter, perfect for decorative work and tight curves
  • Backed by Baileigh Quality: Includes a 1-year parts warranty and lifetime technical support by phone, so you always have expert help when you need it

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need electricity to operate the RM5?

No! The R-M5 is completely manual, operated by a hand crank. This gives you several advantages: you can place it anywhere in your workshop without worrying about electrical outlets, you get precise tactile control over the bending process, and there are fewer moving parts to maintain or repair. The manual operation is smooth and requires moderate effort for most bending tasks within the machine's capacity.

What materials can I bend with this machine?

The R-M5 is designed for mild steel with tensile strength up to 60,000 PSI (42 Kg/mm²). You can also work with softer materials like aluminum, copper, and brass, which will actually be easier to bend. Always stay within the specified capacity limits: 16mm round tube, 0.5" solid round rod (with optional tooling), and flat bar up to 25mm x 7mm. Attempting to bend harder materials like stainless steel or materials exceeding the capacity may damage the machine or produce poor results.

Can I bend stainless steel tubing with the RM5?

While the R-M5 can handle some lighter gauge stainless steel tubing, stainless steel is significantly harder than mild steel and may exceed the machine's capacity depending on the wall thickness. If you plan to work primarily with stainless steel, you may want to consider a hydraulic model for easier operation. For occasional stainless steel work with thin-wall tubing, the R-M5 can work, but expect to use more effort on the hand crank.

How small of a circle can I make?

The minimum diameter for round tube bending is 150mm (approximately 6 inches), and for flat bar the hard way, it's 120mm (approximately 4.75 inches). This makes the R-M5 excellent for creating small decorative rings, circles for metalwork projects, and tight radius bends that larger machines cannot achieve. The ability to create complete circles is one of the R-M5's standout features.

Is additional tooling available for different tube sizes?

Yes! While the R-M5 comes standard with tooling for 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" round tubes and flat bar, Baileigh offers optional tooling sets for solid round stock and other tube sizes. Contact Baileigh Industrial's Technical Sales Specialists to discuss your specific application needs and they can recommend the appropriate optional tooling for your projects.
