The Baileigh BSV-24 is a heavy duty vertical bandsaw engineered for fabrication shops and metalworking professionals who need exceptional throat depth and cutting capacity for large scale projects. With its robust 3hp motor and 581mm throat depth, this industrial-grade machine delivers precision cuts on a wide variety of materials, from mild steel to aluminum.
When you're tackling bigger projects that demand both power and precision, the Baileigh BSV-24 rises to the challenge. This isn't your average vertical bandsaw, it's a workhorse built with heavy duty construction and industrial grade components that will serve your shop faithfully for years to come.
What sets the BSV 24 apart is its impressive capacity combined with professional grade versatility. The generous 581mm throat depth means you can work with larger workpieces without compromising on cut quality, while the 336mm maximum thickness capacity handles substantial material with ease. Whether you're cutting intricate curves or making straight precision cuts, this machine gives you the control and reliability you need.
The heart of this bandsaw is its powerful 3hp motor paired with a heavy duty gearbox offering 4 operating speeds from 81 to 318 rpm. This speed range gives you the flexibility to optimize your cuts for different materials, run slower for tougher metals to extend blade life, or increase the speed for softer materials like aluminum. The machine operates on standard 220V power, making it practical for most workshop environments. Plus, with the built in blade welder, you can tackle internal cuts without having to work your way in from the edge, a huge time saver when you need to cut out the center of your workpiece.

The BSV-24 is designed to cut a wide variety of metals including mild steel, aluminum, brass, bronze, copper, and chrome alloy. The 4-speed gearbox allows you to optimize cutting speed for each material type, extending blade life and improving cut quality. It's not recommended for wood or plastic – for those materials, consider Baileigh's variable-speed models.
Blade changes are straightforward thanks to the easy-access front panels. Most operators can complete a blade change in just a few minutes once familiar with the process. The ball bearing guides are adjustable to accommodate different blade widths, and the blade tension system is designed for quick setup.
The BSV-24 operates on standard 220V, 50Hz, single-phase power, which is common in most European workshops. You should have a qualified electrician verify that your electrical service can handle the 3hp motor load and install an appropriate circuit if needed. Check your local electrical codes for specific requirements.
Routine maintenance is minimal but important. You'll need to regularly check and adjust blade tension, clean the blade guides and bearings, lubricate moving parts according to the maintenance schedule in your owner's manual, and ensure the table and work surfaces remain clean and rust-free. Baileigh provides lifetime technical support by phone if you have questions about maintenance procedures.
The table tilts 10° front to rear, which allows you to make angled cuts in that direction. However, this is not a compound miter saw – it's designed primarily for straight and curved cuts in the vertical plane. For complex angular cuts, you may need to use fixtures or jigs to position your workpiece appropriately.
